한글내용 (Korean Abstract)	넘어짐은 노인이나 산업현장에서 일하는 사람들에게 심각한 부상을 일으키는 원인이 되기 때문에 센서를 사용하여 넘어짐을 판단하고자 하는 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 최근 들어 스마트폰의 보급이 일반화 되면서 스마트 폰에 내장된 센서를 사용하여 넘어짐을 판단하는 방법이 연구되고 있다. 가속도 센서에서 추출된 가속도벡터의 변화량을 분석하면 넘어짐은 어렵지 않게 판단할 수 있지만, 넘어지는 방향을 판단하기 위해서는 가속도벡터의 크기의 변화나 방향으로의 변화로 판단하기 어렵다. 일반적으로 가속도 벡터의 방향은 물체의 움직임의 방향을 의미하지 않기 때문이다. 한편, 속도 벡터는 물체가 움직이는 방향의 접선방향으로 나타나는 성질을 사용하여 넘어지는 방향을 판단하는 방법을 제안하였다.
영문내용 (English Abstract)	Fall-related injuries are the most common cause of accidental death for the elderly and the most frequent work-related injuries in construction sites. Due to the growing popularity of smartphones, there has been a number of research work related to the use of sensors embedded in the smartphone for fall detection. Falls can be detected easily by measuring the magnitude and direction of acceleration vectors. In general, the direction of the acceleration vector does not show the object movement, but the velocity vector directly indicates the tangential direction in which the object is moving. In this paper, we proposed a new method for computing the fall direction based on the characteristics of the velocity vector extracted from the accelerometer.
