영상 기술의 발전은 해상 환경에서 자율운항선박 시스템 구축에 대한 관심으로 이어지고 있다. 이러한 자율운항선박을 구현하는데 있어 주요한 문제 중 하나가 실시간 영상 데이터를 이용하여 해상 선박과의 충돌을 피하도록 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 카메라를 통해 수집된 영상 및 이미지 데이터를 분석하여 선박을 정확하게 실시간으로 검출하고 분류하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 자율운항선박 시스템 구현에 있어 필수적인 요소인 영상 및 이미지 데이터 기반 실시간 선박 검출 및 분류를 위한 딥러닝 소프트웨어 개발을 제안한다. 이를 위해 SSD (Single Shot Multibox Detector) 구조 상에 Inception 모델과 MobileNet 모델을 베이스 네트워크로 적용하여 연산량을 감소시켜 실시간성을 높이는 선박 검출 및 분류 시스템을 구현하였다. 본 논문에서 개발된 시스템과 기존 개발된 Faster R-CNN 기반 선박 검출 및 분류 시스템과 비교하여 성능을 검증하였다. 그 결과 본 논문에서 제안한 시스템이 기존 Faster R-CNN 기반 시스템보다 더 정확하고 빠른 처리속도로 선박을 검출하고 분류하였다. 이를 통해 실시간 선박 영상 데이터를 보다 정확하게 분석할 수 있게 되어 자율운항선박 시스템 실현을 더욱 앞당길 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

(English Abstract) |
Advanced video technologies result in raising attention to the development of maritime autonomous surface ship. In such systems, it is one of major problems to prevent ships from colliding. To avoid the collisions among ships, it is required to detect and classify ships in real time using the collection of video data. In this paper, we propose a software system that detects and classifies ships in real time from video and images using a deep learning. We developed a system using the Inception model and MobileNet as the base network of the SSD (Single Shot Multibox Detector) structure, which reduces computations.. We evaluated these two models in terms of the speed of ship detections and the precision of classification using validation data. We compared our proposed methods with an existing method based on the Faster R-CNN. Our method outperformed in our performance evaluation. We expect that our system can contribute to develop the maritime autonomous surface ship via the accurate analysis of real time ship video data.
