(English Abstract)
In this paper, a smart joint coordination scheme for pump systems in a wastewater treatment plant is proposed, where time-of-use (ToU) tariffs and constraint violation penalties are jointly accounted for the cost-efficient operations. The power consumption of the pumps in the wastewater treatment plant occupies a large portion of the total power consumption in the wastewater treatment process. Accordingly, there have been some studies to reduce the power consumption and the electricity cost of the pumps while increasing the operation efficiency. In particular, in terms of electricity cost reduction, the pump operation is mainly planned at a period when electricity prices are at low cost, considering ToU tariffs. However, if this strategy is applied to an actual site, it can cause problems such as the degradation of the pump and the violation of constraints. Thus, it is necessary before scheduling the pump operation to ensure safety from overflow and cavitation which occur by constraint violation. Through the simulation based on the ground truth data, the proposed method showed the effect of improving the pump system operation cost reduction and constraint violation, compared with existing strategies.
